Day 1: Międzygórze – overnight stay under Śnieżnik and mountain hiking

The first day of the expedition started in the picturesque Międzygórze, which delights with a climate reminiscent of an alpine village. We chose to stay at the parking lot at the entrance to the trail to Śnieżnik – an ideal place for a pickup camper, with a beautiful view and a peaceful surroundings.

In the morning, we set off to the summit of Śnieżnik (1,425 m above sea level), from where there is a panorama of the entire Kłodzko Valley. This is a must-visit spot for every mountain lover. In the evening, we drove a few kilometers further to the parking lot by the Uranium Mine in Kletno.

Day 2: Uranium Mine in Kletno – delving into history

Exploring this place is a fascinating journey into the past – the guide tells stories about uranium extraction, the hard work of miners, and the secrets of the Cold War.

The underground corridors, cool rocks, and dark atmosphere make a huge impression. After a day full of emotions, relaxing in the camper with a view of the mountains was pure pleasure.

Day 3: Bear Cave – a meeting with nature from thousands of years ago

On the third day, we went to one of the region's biggest attractions – Bear Cave. It is one of the most beautiful places of its kind in Poland. The interior is stunning with a wealth of dripstone formations – stalactites, stalagmites, and rock columns that create a true underground kingdom.

After the tour, we stayed overnight at a nearby parking lot, enjoying the comforts of our camper and the tranquility of the mountainous area.

Day 4: Złoty Stok and the traces of Marianna of Orange

The last day of the trip included a visit to Złoty Stok – a town with mining traditions. We stopped at a camper park, where you can take advantage of electricity, water, and full sanitary facilities.

Touring the Gold Mine is a fascinating adventure – with underground tunnels, a waterfall, and a dose of humor from the guides. Next, we visited the Palace of Marianna of Orange in Kamieniec Ząbkowicki – a majestic residence surrounded by a park, which delights with its grandeur and history.

Summary of the Pickup Camper Trip through the Kłodzko Valley

Four days in the Kłodzko Valley flew by in the blink of an eye – full of adventures, nature, and discovering extraordinary places. The pickup camper turned out to be the perfect travel companion: it gave us freedom, independence, and the opportunity to sleep in the heart of nature.

We couldn't visit everything – Kłodzko Fortress will have to wait for another visit. But that’s the charm of such trips – there’s always a reason to come back.

🏕️ Why it’s worth exploring the Kłodzko Valley by pickup camper:

  • Complete independence – you sleep where you want.

  • Proximity to nature and mountain trails.

  • Low travel and accommodation costs.

  • Opportunity to discover lesser-known but beautiful places.

Kłodzko Valley  is the perfect destination for those who value freedom, adventure, and contact with nature. Without haste, with a cup of coffee in the morning and a view of the mountains – that’s how true travel tastes.

A few technical details

  • we traveled about 1000 km, average fuel consumption 12.4L at a highway speed of about 115 km/h
  • heating - we used about 3L of diesel for heating and hot water (inside 21 degrees/outside 6 degrees) over 4 days - WOW
  • LiFePo4 battery 100 Ah + short drives, the amount of power never dropped below 50% - WOW

A few practical tips

  • parking in Międzygórze, nice large, free parking by the trail entrance, it’s worth being there in the morning or evening,
  • the access road to the mine is two-way and quite narrow, despite our capsule being only 200 cm wide, the passing spots were stressful.
  • overnight by the Uranium Mine - it’s worth using the parking 200m below the mine, flat and much more space, minimal traffic on the road
  • parking by Bear Cave, completely empty on Mondays and every day after 6 PM, you can stay overnight, plus there are portable toilets and trash bins
  • in Złoty Stok by the mine, there is a camper park, highly recommended, free waste disposal, water/electricity is paid.
